United in Peace New York and other like-minded organizations march (above), reach out through media (top, right) and distribute The Way to Happiness (above, right).
United in Peace knows there is a right answer to gun violence, and they joined other organizations to march through the streets of Harlem to make that point loud and clear as they spread The Way to Happiness.

The New York chapter of United in Peace Foundation took to the streets to protest gun violence and promote peace. Activists, clergy, celebrities and concerned community members came together for the “Peace in the Streets” March in Harlem from 110th Street and Lennox Avenue to 151st Street and 7th Avenue.

Other groups participating in the march were the National Action Network, The Way to Happiness Foundation, LIFE Camp Inc., Youth Over Guns, NAACP, Street Corner Resources, Love Art Group, Indigo Brand Management, Sharpton Entertainment, African Immigrants’ Commission, Freedom Entertainment Group, Blue Inc., Chasity Cox PR, Women’s March Youth Empower, the Church of Scientology Harlem Community Center and Brown Eyez Magazine.

United in Peace Foundation has organized monthly Peace Rides with biker clubs in and around Los Angeles since October 2012. In 2017, the movement expanded to New York, with a chapter formed in Harlem. The Saturday march, bringing the community together for peace and unity and against gun violence, was held in response to the senseless killing of rap artist Nipsey Hussle in Los Angeles and other shootings and acts of violence in the streets of New York and across the United States. The participants also marched in solidarity with the families of the victims of the Virginia Beach shooting that had taken place just the day before. The march was intended to send a message to communities across the country: “We will not allow the normalization of violence in our communities.”

United in Peace volunteers handed out copies of the 1995 Million Man March Pledge and their own custom-cover The Way to Happiness to provide guidance to city residents on how to lead prosperous, nonviolent lives. The booklet includes such relevant precepts as Precept 8, “Do Not Murder,” and Precept 11, “Do Not Harm a Person of Good Will.”
